Reflexology, a form of holistic medicine that was first practiced in Egypt, as far back as 2030 B.C, is based on the principle that there are “hot spots” on our hands and feet that correspond directly to specific organs and muscle structures in our bodies. If I increase circulation to these points by applying pressure to them, then I can often decrease or completely release the tension and discomfort that my clients carry in those parts of their bodies.
Reflexology works. My clients ask for it when they’re stressed, when their muscles ache because they’ve over-worked them or used them improperly. Reflexology also works on headaches. And I’ve used it to minimize the nasty and annoying symptoms of common colds and flu. In fact, reflexology can be used as a ‘body tune-up,’ or tonic, a preventative measure to help slow the progression of chronic illness.
My technique is simple but effective. I apply pressure to the thousands of nerves in your hands and feet then focus in on the reflex points that correspond to the muscles or places in your body where you hold or feel stress. Then, using acupressure I “move” the energy through those reflex points. My reflexology treatments leave my clients feeling relaxed, refreshed, and re-energized.
